  1. quick question...

is there any way to extract the mpeg from a toast-made VCD .dat file onto the hard drive to make it playable in quicktime?

    thanks.

Tsk tsk, somebody didnt do a SEARCH !!

VCDGear (http://www.vcdgear.com/download.html) :: the OS 9 version works better for me than the OS X version

    VCD Jelly, inside Gumby (http://gumby.misplacedmac.com/)

  3. i did do a search, but i guess i wasn't searching for the right thing.

i tried the VCD gear thing, but it just ends up hanging every time, and i have to force quit the process from the terminal.

    is there any other way?

To be honest, I've found that on my setup with all the crap I've done to it and installed on it, the only thing that works for me is VCDGear (the Windows version) inside my VirtualPC running Windows 98.

IIRC, within OS 9 (the full 9, not Classic), you may be able to drag-n-drop the .dat off a mounted VCD and/or play it back in QuickTime.

It's not a matter of stupidity, so no need to apologize. Glad you got the answer you were looking for.
