I am about to purchase a new computer. I would like to put together a unit that will transfer my video tapes to DVD. Maybe watch some DVDs etc. I have chosen a unit with 2 hard drives (Tons of room and really fast.) My concern is the best capture method. The computer comes with only one choice. Pinnacle USB TV Tuner. I am thinkin I might be better off with something like ATI All in Wonder and stay away from USB units? I am not a big gamer, just want something for music and dvds. etc.

Datavideo DAC-100 or Canopus ADVC-100. Both connect by firewire, and give you DV format AVI's. Easiest to edit, then convert to mpeg for DVD's.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Simply one word!!!
Canopus ADVC-100!!!It will be the first time that you will spend money and you will say "It was really worth the pennies".
Sincerely
one of the many owners around the world of advc-100.plimper
