How to add sutitles to an existing MPG1 without re-encoding?

Is there a way to add sutitles to a MPG1 file without re-encoding the file or re-encoding it as FAST as possible?
...I know the "standard" way using VirtualDub + mixing sutitles and serving them to TMpgEnc.
