  1. will my standalone dvd-player (lg dvd 6053) read files written as vcd or svcd on a dvd-r like it reads files from a cd-r?

  2. Prob not. But you could always go ahead n try. A better bet would be to turn the VCD/SVCD files into a DVD. Easy with VCD , a bit harder with SVCD

You can't write as vcd or svcd on dvdr. You can only burn in data mode and it means that only very few players will be able to read it.

But you can burn as dvd-video and it will work on many players

  7. MPEG1/2 ISO, plays MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring

does that mean my dvd-player will play data written on a DVD-R?

  8. If it says it will play mpeg1/2 files with no authoring then yes, it should play them if you just burn the files as data.
