Wintv usb capturing tv stills

Hi all i know this is not the best way to go but i only need to capture still shots of certain programs on tv.
Right first things first, i cant even get a piccy up on my pc monitor, i have a lead going from my vhs to my wintv through the svideo socket at side of wintv usb, the software i am using to watch tv on computer is "Wintv2000" the picture on all channels is crystal clear.
My computer is using AMD xp1900+ cpu and 215 meg of pc2100

Can someone first of all tell me how to get a picture up from video recorder to my monitor.
The manual says how to capture but nowt about getting vhs onto your screen.

I'm not familiar with WinTV2000 but presume it came with the wintv unit. As the unit has an S-Video input, somewhere in the software you will be able to select it as the source instead of the tuner.
