  1. After spending $42 on discs that don't work in my player I want to play it safe on my next purchase. Do any stores give refunds on opened, partly used media?

  2. If the media is defective in some fashion, I'd think that a lot of places might take it back, but they will probably give you the same brand in return.

I'd stick with bigger name stores for better return policies, i.e Best Buy, Circuit City and the like. Make sure you ask them about the return policy just to cover yourself.

Ask the manager, or a full time regular employee.

Many times they will agree to do it.

CompUSA here in Augusta agreed to allow me to return Pinnacle Studio Version 8 ( I was mistaken and did not buy it there, Bestbuy allowed return "this one time" )

By the way, CompUSA has a Labor Day sale...
DVD Movie Factory 2 for $19.95 after rebate, 10 dvd-r's with slim jewel cases for $7.99 ( no rebate ), Pinnacle Version 8 with firewire/analog card $79.99 after rebate. They are also on web if you have no local store.
    God Bless

I found the best idea to make sure media will work on your player is to buy 1 or 2 discs first and try them out. Almost every store (online and off) will have small quantities of media. Yeah it will cost more to buy just one DVD compared to 100, but it's a small price to pay to assure yourself that the media is compatible.

    Regards,

That's a good idea. I haven't seen discs available in such small quantities where I live, but in a week I'll be visiting a much larger city and will see what it available there.

  6. Most big retail stores(Staples, Best Buy, Office Max) let you return discs regardless of reason.
