Can Ritek G03's burn at 2x on the DVR-106? I have a bunch of G03's and will need to use them if I get a 106. I have a 104 now and burn at 2x with the hacked 1.31 firmware.

Is G03 a name or what?????
Also people talking about dye when it comes to different media.
Please enlight me. -
G03 is part of the media code for Ritek 1x DVD-R disks. Do a search for it in the "DVD Media" section on the left of this site.

As I read from another source, Ritek only produces 1X and 4X certified DVD-R discs, and Pioneer A06/106D's current firmware can only burn 2X certified discs (such as TDK) at 2X, while most other dual format burners (Sony, NEC, Sanyo/Optorite) can burn 1X discs at 2X.
Unless a hacked firmware appears for the A06/106D, you may have no choice but settle for 1X burn speed for Ritek G03 discs. -
I think you're right about this. I guess I'll have to wait for a hacked firmware. Seems a shame the drive makers insist on protecting us from ourselves.
