check out the guides section at the left side of this page, Lord smurf has a reasonable guide for ATI AIW captures. Either capture at 720x480 avi and then encode to mpeg2 then author for use on a DVD, or capture 720x480 mpeg 2 direct and then author for DVD.

Check out smurfs guides they should give you an idea, you might have to reduce the frame size to 352x480 it all depends on the amount of frame dropping you get. you'll have to experiment a bit and find out what works best for you on your computer and use DVD-RW's to test things with instead of making coffee coasters

  4. The fact that with resolution 720x480 you have video problems most likely shows that you have either slow hardware (proccessor, harddrive or memore) or the driver problem. For example, if you have "??% dropped frames" message near the timer when you capture in MMC, it means you need faster CPU.
I made some tests with ATI All-In-Wonder 7500 in the past and I would suggest the best setting for MMC 7.5 is "DVD quality" setting. Even though it has resolution not 720x480, but 352x240 (so you should not be having problems with video freezing), it has 8 mb/s bitrate which makes it close to real DVD quality. If you compare "DVD" and "Good" capture settings, you will notice a little difference. So, if you have problem with DVD quality setting, try Good quality setting.
Unfortunately, MMC, even though very easy to use, does not give the best quality possible with ATI AIW cards. The best quality can be reached with Avi codec such as DIVX, PCMJPEG and HUFFY (MPEG-1,MPEG-2,DIVX,... are all different codecs). Capturing to AVI codecs is really complicated process (you can not do it in MMC because it has problems with this codecs) and you would face many video problems such as sync and deinterlacing.
In this step of your video capture experience using DVD or Good capture settings with MMC will give you the best and easiest capture.

  7. You did not specify your computer details, so I did not know what CPU speed you have. It seems your CPU is fast enough, you just have problems with MMC. If you are OK with VirtualDub, try capturing using Divx codec which has the best size/quality ratio of all codecs. Try to use this guide (Select 720x480 resolution instead of 352x240, YUV2 for Image format, The maximum bitrate in divx settings. Change framerate 29.97 fps instead of 25 fps if you want to capture to NTSC)

  10. I am sorry, raybond, I ment Y??2, so your YUY2 is fine. It is a least important option of all the options you have to set. Do not worry so much about it. Even if you can not find YUY2, you can use UYUY.

  11. Thanks for all youre help its all aspprecaited ...can you tell me what my file size whould be like one minute of vodeo equalls whow many meg

  12. It depends on your codec and bitrate. If you have Divx 5.0.5 and chose 4 mb/s, 1 minute would be appr. 20-30 mb. It also depends on the video itself. It should not be more then 5x VCD size, so it should be <50mb per minute.
