  3. I've seen pink, red, yellow and blue bottoms before. the blue works okay but the rest have been crap. not sure thats anything to do with the color though.

  4. Where did you see those colours ?

You are talking about the colour of the data side of a DVD-R, aren't you ?

Anyway, colour doesn't matter, the laser pickup in a DVD player is tuned to one specific wavelength and doesn't "see" like you do. It doesn't know nor care what colour the disc is, so long as the data can be read off of it.

I've never seen pink , yellow , red , or blue recording sides on a DVD recordable . They have all been some shade of purple . And the color does matter to the writing laser .

Almost all the -R media I've used has been purple, excpet the Ritek G01s which were slightly purple in color. I know -RWs are different shades then the -Rs but I only have one and haven't paid enough attention to it to be sure of its color off the top of my head.

    And I say:

    Oh fer fu...

Look. Dye types matter. Some are different colours. YOUR DVD PLAYER DOES NOT SEE COLOURS ! IT SEES DATA !

Or not, as the case may be.

DVD players are tuned to a specific wavelenght of light, UNLIKE YOUR EYES which see a much broader spectrum. Your hardware does not give a monkey's what colour the dye is, so long as it can read the data off of it.

All this dark dye light dye is cobblers. Different dyes have different properties but you simply CAN NOT JUDGE A DISC BY ITS COLOUR.

There are numerous posts here, not only by myself but by others too, where this is stated in more detail.

I wish people would stop saying dye colour matters when hardware is simply not racist.
