    spent the last 4days at computer on my already prominent butt
    encoding, and ripping and blah...
    i have a huge mpeg..nero wouldnt burn..too big..i split it into 5 equal segments again tried nero..i get the problem screen, so as suggested in tutorial on this board i turn off the "vcd compliant " feature and burn it that way ..it burns..i go pop in my standalone dvd player and it says no disc....
    truly i am disheartened and thinking of placing a call to my physician,

  2. Id go with VCDEasy.

    Why dont they make a Nero Forum, Since its a poor program for making (S)VCDs with, and I see so many questions on how to make it work, even tho most solution involve not using it.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  3. Look like you did not do it right. If you get a MPEG file so big that you need to split into 5 smaller ones, something is wrong.

    For encoding to MPEG-1 (for VCD burn), select bitrate 1150kbps (standard VCD) and only encode about 70 mins of the video (TMPGEnc allow you to select section to encode), repeat the same with the second half. You should have two MPEG files (less than 700MB each).
    Then just use Nero to burn two VCDs with these two MPEG files. It should be very straightforward !!!

    vcd easy isnt free.
    also this was the speed i encoded the compressed avi(which alone is 700mb)
    MPEG-1 320x192 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 192kbps
    when i finished uncompressing the file size was 3.08GB

    im going to get s video cable(since comp has tv out) and hook up to tv and hopefully just watch the compressed avi on tv

    and if it doesnt work then hell, im getting a blockbuster card!!!!

    Your audio is wrong should be 44,100 khz . And your resolution is wrong should be 352 x 240 @ 29.97 fps . Nero works fine if you know how to use it . Good luck .

  6. actually, I believe the program that the earlier poster was talking about was eazy vcd

    Before you resign to getting a blockbuster card, try this,

    download dvd2svcd. Open up the vcd template. Rip and convert your movie, use nero to burn the resulting bin/que files. dvd2svcd has a VERY easy to follow visual guide that walks you through the process. If their guide isnt good enough and your search of this site for a guide turns up nothing, I'll give you the link to my website where I use pictures to do everything.

    Just give a try, you'll like it.
