I made a vcd by downloading the avi off the internet and converting it using TMPG. The mpeg plays great on the computer but then when I burn it (Nero) the quality sucks on the standalone DVD player. It isn't even vhs quality. My DVD player is an Aiwa xd-dv370. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you download the 600MB Divx movies from the internet most of those sub 200MB or lower Megabit movies are really compressed so they are gonna suck on a large screen TV.
I did the movie The Others( 270MB & 233MB) looked good, even its in Dolby Surround & letterbox, but I also did Princess diaries(134MB & 145MB), It looks bad on VCD on my 36in. I have decided just to wait for the DVD and get it for $15 at Frys then mess for days upon days to download inferior copies.
