I wanted this in the off topic section since many of the pros have become ever so bored with the rest of the forum :P
Would it be possible to create an all in one app that can convert DIVX and XVID into mpeg1 or mpeg2 that can be used in VCD or DVD. Of course the app would need to be able to convert PAL DIVX to NTSC, and visa-versa, as well. I'm talking close to perfect conversions with no jumpy footage and no unsynced audio/video.
Is this technically feasible or theoretically possible? I'm not really talking about the legality of it, but that can be discussed as well. I would really like to focus on the technical aspects.

Yeah, I use these but you need to use besweet, avisynth, cool edit, goldwave in conjuction. These are are great programs and I use them, but I would like an "all in one" app like IC7 to do the whole thing. Ya know, put in a blank DVD, enter the settings, hit go, and come back in 2 hours and the DVD is ready to go. Or, at least an mpeg1 or mpeg ready for authoring.
If somone came up with this it would sell quite well. There are legal issues, I understand this, but other than that, what would hold back the development of software like this?
