Does anyone out there know if there's a DVD authoring program out there that will play multiple movie files on a dvd back to back? If you have a movie file that consists of 2 or 3 separate parts, you want to be able to watch them with no gaps in between the parts, correct? Well, what I'm wondering is if there is a dvd authoring program out there that will seamlessly play the multiple parts (the point where 1 ends and the other begins) back to back almost as if they were joined. So far the best one that does this is TMPGEnc DVD Author. It will play multipart movies back to back. It actually has a 1 second glitch, or blurb that consists of pixel noise in between each joined part, but it only lasts a second. Other than that, it plays the movies back to back. Much better than SVCD where you have to take the 1st disc out, and put the 2nd disc in while watching a movie. But I want an authorer that will play the parts back to back with NO glitch or pixel noise in between the parts. If anyone knows if there's an authorer that burns multipart movies in such a way onto a DVD, PLEASE post any info on it! Thanks!

Beta version of DVDShrink is supposed to be able to allow the assembly of files from different DVDs onto one DVD recordable. Don't know about the glitch at the joint, though. Haven't tried this feature yet.

  3. Have you tried DVD-lab. It will allow you to play from one movie to another, not sure about the glitch though.

  4. I use DVD-lab, no glitch or pause at all between individual clips.

    Works great.

  7. I've only done a couple but did not notice any glitch to speakof.

I used Tmpgenc DVD author, opened up to 6 mp2 files and authored one continous movie DVD. I also had chapters and menus so I could just jump to what ever part I wanted. Like movie 3.

Other than I was jumping from one movie to another I didn't notice anything as glitches or wrong durring play.

Can someone do this newbie a favor and tell me HOW to do this? I just authored a 2 part movie onto a DVD with DVD Lab, and of COURSE as the movie plays, when it gets to the part where part one is supposed to transition to part 2, that DOESN'T happen. The movie just stops, then goes back to the scene selection page. I'm assuming it's because I did not set it up to transition from part 1 to part 2. If someone could give me detailed instructions on HOW to set it up so that it does this, it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance for ANY help!

  10. I've done a few DVD's using TMpeg DVD Author where I've married 2 movies onto 1 DVDR with a Title Menu. My DVD player plays the first movie as soons as the tray closes and I believe it continues onto the 2nd without going back the Menu.

  12. With Tmpgenc DVD author I just add mpeg2 files that I want in the first area (where it says add video files). I add the first, then I add the second and so forth.

I do what ever I need to like cutting or adding chapters, and make any menus I want, then just let the program author the DVD files. It turns out like one long movie from one big mpeg2 file would.

Depending on what options I choose for chapters and menus, The disk will start when put in the player and play till the end of the last movie continously then fall back to the menu. Or I can go straight to the menu and choose what movie I want to play same as selecting a chapter.

For example, We have bought every Veggie Tales VHS we have found, ($10 for about 30 minute cartoon), Even Little Joe which we just found one 2 days ago! So if Big Idea people read this, Don't Gripe, we even bought the Johna DVD!

Anyway, I capture 4 30minutes tapes as mpeg2. Then I add each file to DVD Author. I set chapters to the beginning of each movie, plus other places like Silly songs. Make the menu, and let Tmpgenc Auther the DVD files. Then burn those to disk, I been using the included burner in the new version of Tmpgenc DVD Author.

When We play the disk we can start at the beggining of the first movie and it plays all the way to the end of the last movie! Or We can go to the menu and choose the movie we want to watch. Choosing the movie by menu starts the disk at that point and it will play to the end of the disk through however many movies are past that point we started at unless we stop it.

I have done at least 4 of these Vegie Tales movies to a DVD this way, maybe more. Plus I have done other short movies the same way. Works everytime for me! Tmpgenc DVD Author is fully working for 30 days free trial, and not too expensive to buy!

Cost alot less than all those Veggietales Movies I have bought
And I'm not spamming or getting any kickbacks, but if you have kids you should buy one of those VeggieTales movies. Funny Bible stories acted out with cartoon vetables, and silly songs. Available at Wall-mart and other places too.

Even if you don't have kids, you might like these. Wife and I watch em and we're in our 40's
And they are not hard core religion though Bible stories are the theme. I have a friend that does not beleave in anything, and even he got a kick out of the movies.

Anyway, I am backing those up and some other kid stuff to DVD like that as 2 hr movies. We all watch em and we often have little kids visit. Nice to pop in a 2hr disk and not have to change tapes or rewind every 30 minutes or have 5 and 6 yr olds playing with my vcr or dvd player! Every disk has worked fine too.

If I read correctly, I am X has no problem running one movie, or clip, after another, but is trying to avoid the noticeable transition between them.

I always notice the pause in any prog I use, so to make it less noticeable I routinely do a short fade to black at the start and end of each mpg. To my mind, that makes the transition between two files look like it was done on purpose, instead of a snag.

  14. DVD Shrink 3 has just relased a new beta (beta 5) which I believe removes the problem at the joining of two parts.javascript:emoticon('')

Go to the connections screen and move the return link from movie 1 to movie 2 instead of the root menu.

  16. That is the way to do it. On the connections menu there are a few buttons down the left hand side. The first one is an arrow, and this lets you select and move around the assets.

The second is a "plus" "+" sign, that is the connections cursor. Click on that, and then simply click on your first movie, drag the cursor to the second movie, and release the mouse button. Now when the first movie finishes it will go to the second.
