Not only that. She lives in a poor family. No father, mother works and they live in public housing just barley making it. I wonder if she will get new school clothes next year? Those big bad RIAA lawyers really showed her didn't they!

I don't download music nor do I condone it but....
We bought our last cd 3 months ago. It will be a long long long time before we buy another.
Radio and TV music videos are just fine thank you. 8)
I don't like bullies! There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway. -
I don't download or buy music either. I have been boycotting the music industry since 1995
And I NEVER plan on buying another CD, EVER...

I read the girl was an honor student and when they came to get her, she was helping her younger brother with his homework. :,c(
Now, if she was a bright 12 year old that was burning and reselling the tracks...... maybe, but this punishment is WAY out of proportion to the "crime".There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts. -
Even though i live in the uk thats me finished buying music to hell with the RIAA why dont everyone start a boycott...............

All the music you want is free well most of it is any way if you can find it. Just use and Capture card you like ATI Dazzle. Record from MTV edit your video's with MPEg2VCR then run DVD2AVI to get the wave file out and burn. I know you can do this with out a capture card but it's alot easier when you can see the video. Also record from FM radio. The RIAA can not do crap about it LOL.

Spider-man that's not legal either. You can't transfer copyrighted material from one media to another for the purpose of by passing the copy protection (or something like that). Save for backups of material you own. However, the DMCA says that even if you own it and can legally make a backup you can not do so in such a manner that would by pass the copy protection (or something like that).
There's actually some debate about if you can record songs off the radio legally or not. Motive is not suppose to play a role in these things but if you record a song off the radio, no one seems to care. If you record it, convert to MP3 and upload to kazaa then people seem to care. Yet it's the same thing. Not every law on the books is enforeced and of the 'lawery friends I know' I've never gotten a good answer to this. Google had something else to say thou -
I agree this is disgusting & the RIAA should hang its head in shame (not that they give a rats a*se anyway).
What if we put together an online petition with names etc vowing never to buy any more cds & if we get a good enough response , then send it to them>
What do others think. -
The RIAA should be prosecuted as a terrorist organization.........
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." -
They should be prosecuted under RICO just like Directtv is...

I disagree. What Spiderman said is within the confines of the law and perfectly legal.
There is no copy protection he is trying to bypass. He is recording material from a broadcast for personal use. There is nothing wrong with this.
-For example you can record a show from TV and watch it later (The sole purpose of TIVO is to allow you to do this).
-If the above is true, you can certainly record a broadcast to a computer legally from MTV. What debate are you referring to about whether it is legal or not to record music to a cassette from the radio? I am not familiar with it.
As for my personal feelings about the RIAA and the twelve year old girl, I believe that is a horrible thing to do and the punishment is way to sever for the crime. There shouldn't even be a punishment in this case.

1) The damage done here by the RIAA will cost them much more in profits than they could ever regain.
2) I see CRIBS, etc. on MTV and I don't really see any of them having problems paying their electric bills.3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 105820974944 -

Evil, simply put, is what the RIAA is.
I've resorted to buying CD's used and will not support any of these heavily marketed and hyped Top40 trash that the music industry is so greedily profitting from. Personally speaking, internet radio has been the best thing since p2p to learn about new artists.
Anyway, I just think the RIAA's plan will backfire. Enemies have been made in the past, but with this current ploy, I don't see how they plan to save their asses. Boycott I say! -

Why does it seem the richest artists are complaining the most ? (Madonna, Metallica, etc...) They never have to work again in their lives and they are concerned with people wanting to listen to THEIR music...!! Are they being paid by the corporate execs or something to promote the companies greed ??
I just dont understand the greed factor. Apparently the more money you make the more of a**hole you are. I guess I dont get it cause I dont have any money -

Hate buying a CD based on a 10 min. listen at a store. Many times I down loaded an album and very glad I did not buy. (Wow RiAA, can I pay 17.00 for two songs I like) Glad car dealers don't make us buy cars with all of the options.
"F" the RIAA -
the sooner everyone stops buying CD's, the sooner the RIAA goes broke
,all these lawsuits must be costly.
i'm guessing also that all these lawsuits must be a strain on the legal system.

Alas , we live in a capitalistic society and unless you provide compensation for services - YOU WILL GET NO SERVICES.
Maybe you haven't learnt that in sKooL yet!
For the record : I do not agree with the tactics of the RIAA. But with an attitude like yours, expecting everything for free, then you better learn to sing and dance yourself because there will be no incentive to be an artist and entertain if you don't get paid.
