  1. I used CloneDVD to make a copy of a DVD and cut out all necessary things (menu, extra's, etc..) EXCEPT dutch subtitles.
When I watch the copy on my DVD player, subtitles are not present (impossible to select).
When I watch the copy on my PC with PowerDVD: subtitles ok.

    Any ideas?

    thx!

    Supergaazz.

  2. This is a stumper that has yet to be solved.

I've been trying to copy a couple of DVD's for weeks, and nothing I do will carry over the subtitles for stand-alone players, yet every copy's subtitles work fine when I play them on the computer.

I've tried five different stand-alone players and four different DVD-ROM drives. Results are always the same; the subs won't work on the players, but they always work on the DVD-ROM drives.

It doesn't matter whether I keep the discs' contents intact or re-author, it's the same either way. The only consistant thing is that I always have to compress the movies for size. I think it's something in this compression that messes it up for stand-alone players.

I originally thought this was a DVD Shrink problem, but it looks like you're having the same issues with CloneDVD. Were you compressing the movie for size? (Can CloneDVD even do that?)

  3. My other copies are working fine, also made them with CloneDVD. Perhaps it has nothing to do with it, but when I made my "working" DVD's, I kept the menu.
    Perhaps that made the difference.

  4. I think some DVDs have user protections. If you choose English language, you can't switch to French audio, for example.
DVD Shrink allow to disable them.
