    I have seen portable DVD players like it, although this can only play CD-R discs.

    If you are thinking of getting one it probably wont be that great on VCD playback.

    DVCD stands for Double VideoCD (it is a Video CD with 99 mins of video on it and is popular in China, where this player is from). Here is the definition: http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/dvcd.cfm
