Minimum size before playing back?

Hi,

I own a Sanyo DVD-077 DVD player. I have an issue with it. I do corporate movies a lot, and many times they're only 10-15 minutes long. This results in a DVD that contains only a little bit of data. Say 6-700MB.

I thought the DVD player was having difficulties playing back some DVD-R discs, but as it turns out, the problem seems related to the content of the disc. It's strange, because I have a Sony DVD+RW that seems to play back okay with anything I put on, but DVD-R's have problems playing back on it. On large projects however, most discs function correctly.

This has led me to the assumption there might be a minimum amount of content required to play back okay. Anyone ever heard of something like that?

Read somewhere that it was like 1 GB but I don't know for sure. I know that when I tested a DVD recorder and only put 1 minute on the disk, when I went to finalize it ended up padding the file to get it up to a minimum amount.

Yes I have seen this reported several times in this forum that some players have problems playing discs with too little data recorded on them.
