Sick of trying to convert to SVCD for 10 hrs and find it doesn't work properly?? Want to try something a little different??
Described below is a method to make a X-SVCD in around 2~3 hrs.
note not all players will play them.
1. decrypt to hard drive
2. compress with DVD2one (2400 mbytes will do for three discs 1600 Mbytes for 2 discs, the more the discs the better the quality and movies
longer than say 100 mins 3 discs. if the sound is ac3 2 chanel then compress to 2300 or 1500 Mbytes, experiment a bit)
once compressed play the vob's to check quality if not ok recompress to
a higher amount , multiple of 800 Mbytes.
3. use vstrip to demux video to one MV2 stream.
4. use vstrip to demux sound to one AC3 stream.
5 use besweet to re-encode AC3 stream to Mp2. dont forget to set av delay if necessary.
6. use bbmpeg to multiplex MV2 and Mp2 streams together cutting at
800 Mbyte sizes.
7 use vcdeasy to burn mpeg2 stream to SVCD, either disable SVCD compliance checks or ignore non compliant messages.
warnings.

note the video stream is still 720x576 but compressed. by compressing to
such a low amount quality will vary from movie to movie. Most movies on three discs (compressed to 2400Mbytes or 2300Mbytes if the sound is in AC3 2 channel) the quality is very good with very little noticable if any
pixalation.
