Can anyone who has transferred from Mini-DV camcorder to the Panny E-80 comment on the results.
The main reason I am holding off to purchase is that there is no Firewire for digital to digital conversion.

Why not just wait for the DMR-E100 which will have firewire along with a 120GB hard drive. It's supposed to be out at the end of the month - some places are already taking pre-orders for it. But of course it will cost more

I can't comment on the Panasonic E-80, but I have an E-20 and (to my surprise) there is no difference between material recorded via the digital input and stuff recorded via the analog (Y/C or S-video) input.
A couple of people have confirmed they have come to the same conclusion as this, so it's not just my eyesight (actually I did test fairly carefully - exporting still frames to look at in Photoshop etc).
