i was just bored, so i tried something out.
i used DVDshrink to transcode a clip of a commercial dvd.
i used "re-author", and used to "start-end" option to backup a clip of the dvd.
i used "no compression" level for video.
then i clicked "backup" to a VIDEO_TS folder.
------------------
for Nero, i used http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-udf-iso.php
but instead of "DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)", i used "CD-ROM (UDF/ISO"
and did the same exact settings, except everything is in cd-r.
i played the cd-r on my xbox, it played, but there was green blocks everywhere, and audio-sync problems.
anyone ever tried this?
i think the xbox cant read dvd-content on a cd-r fast enough...

This is not unique for XBox - most DVD players suffer from this.

Yep. Older DVD drives especially (and the XBox has 3-4 year old technology in it, remember) can't read CD anywhere NEAR fast enough.

You could try to lower the bit rate of the mpeg to somewhere not above SVCD bit rate (~2500 kbps). But then, at DVD res, it will still look crap...
