any drawbacks to this??

I keep reading that you have no options our abilities to make menus and chapters and such with standalones. Am I wrong in thinking you take your burned disc from the standalone, use dvd decrypter to extract the video to your computer, and edit away just the same as you would if you used a capture card??? is their anydrawbacks to doing in this way? Especially in my case I dont plan on doing any hardcore editing, just maybe a little trimming and commercial cut outs,,,

get tmpgenc dvd author and import your dvd files and edit away
