Dont you love it when you get killer deals. I got some great deals on monitors lately. I know somebody who works at the local hospital where they are replacing all ther monitors w/ new LCD ones. They sold all there old 17" Dell trinitron monitors for $10 and they sold the 17" Flat tube Dell trinitron for $30. I got 3 $10 ones and 2 $30 ones. kept two for myself and family & friends got the others.

I got a parallel-port Zip drive at a garage sale for $1.00. Took it home, downloaded the drivers, it worked perfectly.

and working for a company that staffs law firms, I've been able to tap into their surplus computers - they have to pay to have it hauled away, so I lighten their load - last haul got me 3 17" monitors, 8 or 9 working pc's (which I sold at a computer fair) and the mega bonus - a complete videoconferencing rig that I sold on eBay for $1,000. New in the box, software still in the shrinkwrap.

    gotta love corporate waste!

The company I used to work for would sell its old laptops to the employees for extremly good prices. Usually in the range of $50 for a year and a half old laptop. Employees were hppy they got a good deal, and the company regained some of its capital it invested.

  7. I remember my old school used to just throw out all their old monitors. My mate suggested that we take some home but they were pieces of junk so we just trashed the crap out of them.
