I recently purchased a Kenwood DV-403 from a friend it was in perfect condition but i can't seem to paly vcd's. i read on various posts that people have played burnt vcd's on it as well as it says it supports vcd's it supports cdr/cdrw my friend who i only talk to very infrequently says he had to go in the menus and change something to allow for vcd playback from a burnt vcd. the vcd's i am trying work fine in my friends dvd player that plays vcd's anyone know what i need to do? thanks

Does it have a menu option for enabling PBC?
-
I don't see anything that has to do with PBC.. is it somethign that you know is on there or is it a suggestion.. if you know what menu would you be i need to be on? thanks..

What exactly does pbc stand for maybe its written out rather than written as PBC

My DVD player has to have enable PBC (PlayBack Control) for it to play VCDs thats all. Its a strange option to have though I know. If your friend says its in the menus, just experiement. Some DVD players have an advanced menu that gives you even more options.
P.S.
Is it a burned CD that you are trying to play as Im assuming that you mean an actual VCD. If it is a burned CDR, try a different media. -
I am trying a burnt cd that i have been using in my old player that worked fine. someone posted that they burned a cd and had it working.. i am using maxell media cd.. Do you have any resources that i might be able to check on that might have some more information about this model dvd player? that might be able to help

I dont Im afraid. Some DVD players are better at playing certain CDRs than others, so it could be that your player doesnt like the media.
