I have an Xvid Rip of the movie 28 Days After. I am trying very hard to convert this to DVD with no luck. Can someone please point me in the right direction? The guides are a little confusing. The rip also was done from a PAL Dvd since the fps is 25. I want to make an NTSC DVD what other steps are needed? I tried to just convert the file in tmpg to mpg2 but it crashes somewhere along with an invalid pointer problem? PLEASE some experienced person show me the way!

Why do you need to convert back to DVD? Why don't you just copy the DVD directly? I guess I just don't understand why you would want to make a copy from a lower quality souce (XVID) instead of the DVD.

did you rip this to Xvid? re rip it from the original disc.

I dont have the original DVD. My friend made a rip on a business trip to England. It is only out in Region 2 DVD I believe. I am trying to turn it back into DVD (NTSC).

if you don't have the original dvd, you shouldn't be here trying to "back it up".
if you want to convert it from Region 2 and PAL to NTSC, go HERE and buy it, and convert your own copy.- housepig

Because it was released in the UK in the theatre 7 months before the US. SO there's is now out on DVD. Wow it's a good thing Noone here ever copies a movie they don't OWN! Please.

I think we need a new designation, not noob or newbie. I've seen plenty of newbies on this board who are honestly trying to figure this stuff out, and are using it for legit purposes...what is it about newbie that they directly state they are commiting illegal acts then jump all over you when you point it to them?
... and I've seen people with hundreds of posts that should have a parrot on thier shoulder, they're such big pirates.

I guess having it right there when a user posts does not deter some people. It does seem, however, that it has reduced the number of people that post about converting illegally received movies.
I have a question for the original poster. When you initially posted did you read the section about warez and the in the color green "bootleg movie" part in the form rules.
I am NOT trying to be an ass. I am trying to find out what can be done to present posters with this information so that they know from the getgo not to discuss illegal movies.
The people that have been on the site know the rules and we make suggestions trying to put ourselves in your (someone who is new to the site) place, but it seems that new posters still are posting these types of posts.
What is your opinion as to what can be done to inform new site members that there cannot be any talk of illegal activity? And please tell me honestly, if it was something you read and understood from the beginning. Again, I am not trying to be a jerk, I am honestly wanting to find out what baldrick and the other mods can do in order to prevent posts were people ask (knowingly and unknowingly) for help with illegal movies.
Your assistance, for me and speaking on behalf of the mods, would be greatly appreciated.

My original post did not state this was a Pirated or bootleg movie did it? If you notice it was the fool housepig that had to stick his nose in and come right out and ASK where i got it from. I mean come on, this guy was obvioulsy looking for an argument from the getgo. I posted without thinking that is true, but he was the one who has nothing better to do than police the world. I wish he would spend as much time trying to stop world hunger or terrorism as he does trying to stop bootleg movies from going around. Thats at least something he has a chance of stopping. Again did not mean to disrespect any of you by posting the movie title, but there was no reason why pigface had to even get involved was there?

I dont want this to turn into a flame thing between posters, so I am not going to get involved with the argument.I posted without thinking that is true
I am truly wanting to know if you knew about the forum rule of discussing illegal movies, etc. As I mentioned before, people that are on the site all the time know the rules, just because, BUT its the new guys. We want to make sure that they all know that they should not be discussing warez,bootleg movies, etc.
What do you think would be a good idea to get that information for newbies. I was even thinking that in the email people get when the register to have it in bold letters. This site does not condone blah blah blah and by clicking the link to confirm your membership you agree that blah blah blah.
What do you think about doing something like that? As a newbie, how could we have said "hey, dont post this type of stuff"? Again, I am trying to find a way to make the site better.

I think most people just reply to that email without reading it. Maybe if we had something on the posting page that said "don't name what movie it is, no matter what." Maybe that would help. Maybe we should also have on that page, "do not tell where you got the movie from". But....If we had that maybe it would look like we were condoning warez. What do you think? The problem with this post is that the original poster didn't say anything about warez, but the regulars knew that the movie wasn't out on DVD yet and had a pretty good idea what it came from. If the movie haden't been named, no one would have been the wiser.

and what if you are ripping a dvd you got from a friend

lets say that your friend doesnt have a dvd rom on his computer, he still has the right to use other computers to copy his baught dvd.
