  1. I have a DSL connection that is 768/128 KBps, with download rates up to 90 Kb/sec on the bandwith tests, and it is pretty consistent too. The problem is that when I try using Kazaa the speed sucks its like 2 kbps, first it shows there are like 10 users with the same file and then slowly it comes down to like 1 or 2 as it fails to connect to all of them.

I think this could be because of the router that I am using (Ng Rp 614) as the same files download at like 80-90 kbps when I am at work with no problems what so ever, I don't know how to configure the router firewall as it does not come up in the setup but that is the only reason I can think of that downloading does not work. I feel like all this bandwitth is being wasted with not being able to download stuff.

Anyone had the same problem? Any solutions?

    Cataphract,
The problem isn't your router it's the quality of the connection on KaZaa. Usually there is more than one person dowloading the same file you want from the same person and that doesn't help much either. So the problem isn't your router it's just a type of busy server, and there's not much you can do about that.

By the way what DSL provider are you using? I used to have MSN Broadband and all i could get was a 768kbps connection, but when I changed to Earthlink i got a full 1.5mbit connection. You should look around for another provider.

    Hope This Helps,

  3. Nope, the router is not the problem. In fact, your router is most likly not even running at full capacity (i.e. its the DSL line that is slowing it down)

In fact, I don't think there is a problem at all. The bandwidth is just narrow at the time you are using it (just like Epi said). The reason it may be going faster at your work is that at that time, no one else is using the bandwidth.

I was thinking that it was the reason but as I said I download on Kazaa during day time and the speeds are awesome, it does make a diff as the connection at work is bit faster but the diff is too much, 90 kb/sec download speeds versus 2 kb/sec at home, I can probably get the same speeds on a modem connection.

will have to try something else soon.

    Thanks.
