Does zoom work well on players?

How well does the zoom function work on most players, specifically the Hitachi 415.

Well, Hitachi is not that great. Some players with an awesome ZOOM that can play XVCDs decently are:

Sanyo(but you can't get rid of the text "zoom x2...etc." on the TV screen.

JVC has the BEST hands down. It has several settings on zoom and you can get rid of the text.\

DAEWOO, a cheap DVD player, has the zoom one would want if they wanted to turn a widescreen movie into an almost P&S movie (but why would you want to do that?) and the text disappears after zooming.
