I have some old vhs home movies which I would like to convert to mpeg 1 so I can burn to a vcd. My question is, what do I need in order to get the file on my computer? A friend of mine told me I need a capture card...how can I tell if I already have it on my computer(I know very little about my machine so dont laugh). Also, what else do I need to perform this action. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

  2. Capture cards rarely come with a computer. You will probably need to buy one. As far as software, I would recommend Ulead Video Studio 7.0. or Ulead DMF 2.0. Anyways, this guide should help you:

  4. Canopus AVDC-100 or Canopus AVDC-1394. This card can disable Macrovision (I am told).
