What photo editing software came with your system?
    Hello.

  3. A few weeks ago, Aver photo paper sold for $10 with a $10 rebate
in many places(OfficeMax, Fry's, MicroCenter, and etc). It includes
a MS Picture It! So you get both photo paper and the software free
after rebate. I used PictureIt and it is pretty handy to use.

You could try Gimp. Very powerful, but not as user-friendly as some. Free for the download at: http://www.gimp.org

  6. Yep, GIMP is the closest thing to Photoshop power without paying anything. The interface really sucks but what do you expect from an open source project? <g>.

You can actually do just about anything PS does in GIMP, but in addition to the interface it's just a trifle unstable. But it should be more than adequate for your purposes.

I like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Picture it Pro 7.0

Although they are not freeware, they are great for photo editing.

I haven't tried it myself, but Irfanview is a free viewer/simple editor.
    Find it at http://www.irfanview.com/

  11. Here's the skinny. It depends how serious you are or get about photo editing. I have pretty much used all of them that are commonly available, and I find myself always coming back to Photoshop. It has a steep learning curve, but its abilities are prorbably unlimited.

Also, there is a HUGE number of plug-ins for this product! Worthy of honorable mentions are:JASC'S Painthop Pro, Ulead's Photo Impact, and Corels's Photo Editor. You can get full, downloadable demos of all of these products (mmm.......I'm not totally certain on the Corel product).

Sure there are quick and dirty packages, but the big boys go the extra mile if you need it.

Go to pcworld.com or download.com (cnet) and start downloading and trying out until you find one that you like.

I use Bibble, Nikon View 5 and Photoshop 6 with my Nikon D1 and negative scanner, although never for "red eye" issues, but it can assuredly be done.

The MS Photo Editor is probably the bet thing you'll get for the price you're willing to pay (since it came free with your system).

If you only have a few photos in mind, see if a demo of some commercial program (maybe PS, not sure) will let you work and save.
