I’m a little confused on some stuff about this. One i have a DVD player that says it can play Cd-r/cd-rw. So, does that mean i can download movies and burn them to a cd (cd-r/rw) using the MPEG format and they will play on my DVD player? Or do you have to have a VHS DVD player to play burned movies. My last question is is how do people know what CD's to use on a DVD player? I’m only 16 and well I don’t have the money to go out and just buy cd and test them on my player to see if they work. Is there another way of finding out? Thanks

When the DVD player says it will play CD-Rs, the persons who makes VCDs and SVCDs ears stick out a little. It means it will play your home made VCDs and SVCDs. And it should also play music Cs as well. If you like what you see, look it up in the DVD player database at left, and see what other members have to say before making a decision.

Good start. This means it will read data written to a CDR/RW, now you'll have to find out whether it will play VCD or SVCD. Try the DVD players section on your left to look up the details of your DVD player. One i have a DVD player that says it can play Cd-r/cd-rw
Once you've encoded them to a VCD or SVCD standard and assuming your DVD player can play VCD or SVCD then yes.So, does that mean i can download movies and burn them to a cd (cd-r/rw) using the MPEG format and they will play on my DVD player?
I just buy cheap CDR, my current supply cost me £18 for 100 80 min 40x CDRs and I cant remember the last time I made a coaster. My last question is is how do people know what CD's to use on a DVD player?
Hope thats made things a little clearer.
