  1. I tried it with Scooby Doo.
First Directly from DVD to VCD, it looked ok.
After that, I tried DVD2DivX2VCD, but the quality was much better!
    Did anyone else ever notice?

  2. The quality should be the same unless you're using different encoders/GOPs/quantizer matrics, there's so many variables. Not to mention you lose a lot more if you don't go direct.

Ask anyone (with experience) and they'll say that your statement is either an individual thing or a load of crap!

  3. I used DvdX to go directly from DVD2VCD.
After that I tried converting to DivX using Gordian Knot and to VCD with TmpgEnc.

I think it looks way better.

Post your step-by-step guide, to see if we can duplicate your results as you say.

I can see why you state this. You used a packaged software to go from dvd --> vcd. then u used a superior encoder (TMPGenc) to go from Divx --> vcd.

If you ripped the dvd, ran it through dvd2avi & then encoded w/ TMPGenc you would have superior results for a DVD --> VCD conversion.

all in one packages are usually inferior to more hands on conversions.
