  1. I've heard it's possible to convert avi's into a format that will play on my "DreamCast" game console, Is this true .
I've tried using a programme that supposedly will do this but with no success at all, apart from successfully wasting 4-5 CDR's , I managed to convert and burn with this programme (Can't remember the name of it now ), but my "DreamCast" does'nt do anything with it at all.
Can someone please tell me first, if its actually possible to do this, and second if it is what software and boot disc's etc, I need to do this.

  3. A word of caution, although it is possible to watch vcds on your dc with the player because of the constant searching by the laser it thrashes your dreamcast in a similar way to playing those old bin & cue downloaded games without any dummy files on the disk. You could soon overheat the console causing permanent damage.
Stick to watching on your pc to be safe.

Before I had a DVD player that could read CD-R's I used my Dreamcast one time for a home made VCD, and never tried it again. The sounds this machine makes when constantly loading do NOT sound natural. It seemed like a good way to kill a Dreamcast so I said nuts to that, went and bought my Shinsonic 100-A and never looked back. I advise you to look into an inexpensive DVD player, maybe an Apex. I hear those machines play almost everything you pop in them...but honestly nowadays every DVD player being sold should read CD-R's just fine...so check the players list here on the site to double check, and find one in your price range.
