  1. hi i've been figuring out how to make vcd's for about a week now and i can make them work on my stand alone dvd player.
ive read the guides on here and what i do is use goldwave for the audio and then TMPGEN to encode then i burn using nero and my vcd's work fine.
but the guides said to use vcdeasy to burn but it takes 2 or 3 times longer than nero coz it always makes a bin and cue file.
can i stop it making files and just burn?
does author mean to put in chapters and stuff?
ive had a joint so i'm rambling what i mean is,
if i encode a movie to mpeg1 for vcd and just want to burn it should i just use nero and it's burned and works in 10 mins or should i use vcdeasy which creates files i dont want and crashes quite a lot?

many thanks and remember u too were a stoned newbie

ok i'll try to make it clearer
should i use vcdeasy to make cue and bin then use nero?
or should i use vcdeasy to burn?
would the quality be the same with nero or better with vcdeasy?

    tu for any replies

As long as your burning program actually works, then the quality will be the same. That is, as long as it isn't screwing up somehow then just use whichever program works for you.

can u tell me what are the advantages of using vcdeasy to author
rather than just burning mpeg file to vcd with nero?

    zak_swan,

VCDEasy is little more complex than Nero but VCDEasy will allow you to create true chapters (entry points) and menus. Nero can't do that. Even if you do not wish to create chapters and menus, it is better to create the VCD in VCDEasy and build the bin/cue file.

You can later use Nero to burn ths bin/cue file as an image; or you could let VCDEasy to burn also.
