  1. Hey all,

I wanna burn some VOBs to DVD-R.

Is there any software available that will allow me to do this with menus within menus and customizable backgrounds?

I would want this software to be free if possible (or very cheap :P ). Even a full featured Demo would be OK.

    Thanks!

  2. If you want to extract the raw MPEGs and then re-do the menus, then Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 might be what you're looking for.

    The free trial is here:

  3. The vobs have AC-3 audio and so I would like to preserve everything if possible.

The VOBs are not from a movie or commercial disc, just some files I got online.

    Thanks for the response though

The authoring package DVDlab from mediachance will take VOBs with ac3, you could add menus or just author movie only. You will need another prog to burn with.

DVDlab has a 30 day trial.

some VOBs are DTS and others are Dolby Digital.

Do you think that'll be an issue?

    Not sure about DTS.
Maybe you could demux them and use besweet to convert the DTS to AC3. I think besweet can do this????

  7. Wow!

    DVD Lab kicks @$$ !!

If I don't demultiplex, will it change my audio files?

I only ask because I am burning up some Dolby Digital, DTS and THX trailers.

    Thanks!

No it will not change anything (thats one of the things I like about it). But there are issues when you mix different audio types on one DVD.
Just try it and see, use a RW disk though.

As long as you don't attempt to use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 for *editing* the AC-3 MPEGs, you can create menus and burn them to disc without re-encoding.

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 does not have the ability to convert non-AC-3 MPEGs into MPEGs with AC-3 audio.

But Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 will accept AC-3 MPEGs and let you create menus for them and then burn them to disc - without re-encoding!

All you have to do is make sure your project settings match the attributes of your source files and then check the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT MPEG FILES box and the AC-3 MPEGs will 'pass through' to your disc.

    I've done this numerous times.

  10. neoDVD Plus is another software that can author the VOBs file, adding menus and keep AC3 audio.
