  1. Aigh't after reading and reading and reading more it seems that Ulead DVD Workshop is everyones fav. So I download the demo to try it out.

When I Add Current Frame to Library - the frame is not the frame I have jogged to.

Also while I'm hear I might as well ask: I have one large MPG I've imported and would like to set chapters. I'm confused. Do I need to set the in and out points of the chapter or just jog to the first frame of the chapter and hit Insert Scene as Chapter. (This also finds the wrong frame to create the thumb for.)

What am I doing wrong!?! Is there a good help guide for DVD Workshop?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Not sure what's going on here. I don't use this feature, but I just tested it, and it seemed to work fine.

You can only add chapters on I-frames. It sounds like you do not have the "Locate I-frame" box checked, and you have navigated to a non-I-frame.

Some encoders will let you specify the location of I-frames (e.g., TMPGEnc). If you have such an encoder and can re-encode your MPEG, you can specify arbitrary points for your chapter points.

  3. sweet...thanks for the info...!

I was playing with the Locate I-Frames button....I kinda figured out what you have just confirmed for me. I was really only confused by the ability of the in and out points? I've noticed you can break out sections from your movie, I guess it's just a little editing functionality...seems kinda out of place in this application...

Still no clue about the thumbnail being snagged from a different frame than I have set in the preview window...mebbe my mpg got munched somehow...if anyone can think of anything let me know...I got about 3 hours to kill...

  4. Well I've re-encoded using TMPGenc, no workies....So I un-installed DVD Workshop and re-installed it...Still the same problem. Strangely enough throught all of this the offset of the frame is the same...it is about 5 seconds off the frame I am asking for.

Mebbe I'm doing something wrong in TMPGenc? Any ideas anyone?

Well, just re-encoding in TMPGEnc is not enough. You also have to specify which frames you want to be I-frames. Bring up the "MPEG Setting" dialog (by presseing the "Setting" button at the bottom of the screen), go to the "GOP structure" tab, check the "Force picture type setting" box, and press the adjacent "setting" button. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to specify the frame type for any frame in your source video. Find the frames that you want to be chapter points and specify that they should be I-frames. Don't worry about any other frames. TMPGEnc will choose the correct frame type for them.

Hope this is clear and that it helps.
