  3. well..anyone..help please..? Maybe I am not giving a clear picture, so I try one more time. I would like to burn my avi directly as an avi ,without all the conversion ,demux etc... onto a cdr playable on both my pc and my dvd player. What kind of settings would I have to use in nero or roxio?

If you want to play it on your dvd player you need to convert.

  6. so your DVD player supports MPEG4 DIVX??? if not, then you can't play the .avi on your dvd player directly.

check your dvd player here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

otherwise, you need to convert (re-encode) your .avi into (S)VCD to play on your dvd player.

  8. That right! I have a player that can played DIVX avi Problem is I don't know how to burn direct to cdr using nero. I tried burning as a data format so that I get a duplicate same as on my pc but it won't play in window media whereas the original copy on my pc can.Is there another software that can duplicate and burn it to a cdr.

Well, unless you have a dvd player that plays mpeg4 divx, the avi wont work. To view it on your dvd player...first make sure what media your player can play(CDR,RW, DVDR, RW). If you have a cd burner you can use cdr's or rw's(after converting the avi w/ a software like tmpegnc) and use nero to author a vcd. Good luck .

what's the brand/model of the player...you absolutely sure you can play DIVX on it??? and also, which versions of DIVX does it support..and does it support XVID too?

otherwise, you need to simply burn the DIVX .avi file as a DATA CD and your dvd player should recognize it...make sure you FINALIZE the disc and UNCHECK the multi-session option.
