Hi
I have an old Win-TV card and I was wondering for all the people using the cards here, what resolution can you capture in. It only lets me capture in 340X288 or something of that sort although there are options to capture in 720X576!!
If I choose any other resolution, it just says unsupported format!!
I have tried in 2 PC's - 500 Mhz Intel, 256 MB RAM and an AMD XP1800, 512 MB RAM
Thanks for the help!

wowww...that was a quick reply!!!
My PC spec does match your specs, so I am wondering why it wouldn't let me capture in any other resolution.
I used AVI_IO as well as VirtualDub...but still no luck!!! -
Okay, try 480 x 480 and YUY2 in the custom format.
Hello. -
I have the wintv2000 PCI PVR and with virtualdub I can cap @ 640x480 although sometimes I get bad analog noise, so I cap to 480x480 to perfection!!

I just tried in VirtualDub but will not let me select anything larger than 352X???. VirtualDub says it is not unsupported format when I select anything else.
It is an old card...I think it has the BT878....chip!!
looks like I may have to invest in a new capture card!!! -
Your card is fine, just get the hacked brooktree drivers from
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net
This will allow you to capture at the resolutions you want. Take care installing the drivers, and disable overlay in Virtualdub, you should be OK -
Some improvement!
I can select other format's now....after installing the hacked drivers. I am trying it with the 500 Mhz Intel, I'll swap the card with the XP1800 tomorrow, hopefully that should work better.
Thanks all for your help!! -
I have a Model 404 WinTV card and with WinDVR or Power VCR II I can capture MPEG 1 or 2 video at 720x480 with the standard WDM drivers.
The video quality is not as great as DV but it is good enough for some DVD's.
Just my 2 cents

Have you tried Mjpeg codec. I don't mind rendering to Mpeg2 as long as the quality is as good as the source (VHS).
I just want a stable system to transfer VHS to DVD....
I also have the Pinnacle DC30....but it is one temperamental card and I am also getting too big AVI's with A/V Sync problem, thats why I am trying the Win-Tv, if get decent capture and can create seamless captures with AVI_IO, I can ditch the DC30.
