    I would like to know if it is actually possible to copy copyrighted dvd's either onto a dvd-r or the hard drive of a pc, if this is, how? and what software should be used?

    have tried looking in the guides section didn't have much luck

    try DVDshrink...it's freeware, and prolly fastest of all transcoders so far.
