  1. after initially just copying the main movie for my backups, I've now been trying to get the menu included as well..without success..at least not without all kinds of errors when I try to play them in my software dvd player/ifoedit.

I'm not interested in the extra's on my dvd.

I've tried all kinds of manuals with IFOedit, dvdfab, ifoupdate, playing around with dvdshrink, IC7, etc...

What I do is: I prefer to use dvd2dvd-r for compressing the main movie with just 1 audio track and 1 subtitle... then I try to get the menu's back in again..

what goes wrong is I either mess up the pointers to the subtitles or audiotracks.. I can get those working, but then I risk my menu to stop responding when I click some particular items, or the movie stops when I change chapters.. Even if all seems to work, I get errors before burning, or when trying to read the 'new' dvd with tools like DVD shrink. -seems like the IFO files don't correspond.

In short- I don't know anymore what steps I should follow to get correct ifo files with my movie. - let me summarize what I want:

    - 1 DVD with a 'manually' compressed movie (dvd2dvd-r), and subtitles
    - 1 audio track left
    - 1 subtitle left
    - all items in the menu should remain working/clickable...

    anyone can advise?

  2. You could try re-authoring the VOBs, build a new custom menu, then compile and burn.

I think that TMPGEN Author and DVD-Lab will allow you to work with VOBs(de-mux, build new chapters, etc)
