  1. Hi Cecilio,

I followed your suggestion to convert AVI to MPEG first using TMPGEnc, then burned it to VCD, the VCD quality is much much better than before, thank you very much.

Next I would like to try it on SVCD. By the way, what is XVCD in terms of picture quality and length of play?

    Once again, thanks a lot.

i really appreciate you making a post specifically for me. that made me feel like i really helped you. ok now well XVCD gives you very good quality. so does SVCD and also CVD. pick one and ill show you how to make them. they all can give you superb results, but it depends on how many minutes you wanna put on only 1 cd and how much the bitrate is. like lets say you wanna 60 minutes on one cd, well XVCD would look very good, and CVD also, but i think thats too low bitrate for SVCD. but tell me which of the three formats you wanna learn.

oh and have you seen my all in one guide. go here. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=167502&highlight=

This isn't IRC or chat. Learn some patience. Do your painting, come back tomorrow.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  6. Hi Cecilio,

Sorry to interrupt your painting work.

I know the procedure to make a SVCD, basically it is the same as VCD.

But XVCD is new to me, and the tools I am using right now don't have XVCD option, can you please tell me how to make it?

But the way, what is the max play time on XVCD? Can DVD/VCD palyer recognize and play it?

    Thanks,

    MikeZ2

MikeZ2, please do some clicking on the headings on the left hand side of this site. XVCD and XSVCD are fully explained there and the guides will have a method somewhere also. Try the links for more info.

It is not necessary to have yet another thread dedicated to this topic.

yes XVCD can be played on dvd players, but not all dvd players. why dont you make like a 1 minute sample and burn it on to a cd-rw and test it out on your dvd player.

  12. Hi Cecilio,

I converted a AVI to MPEG1 based on your step-to-step procedure to make a XVCD, I viewed a output MPEG file on PC, the quality is better than normal VCD ... but what happened was once a while the picture got frozen for couple minutes.

The AVI file is ok, I used it to make a good VCD already.

So what/where went wrong? please advise.

    Thanks,

    MikeZ2

you probably used a higher bitrate than your player can handle. try not to use more than a total bitrate of 1856 video+audio. or does it look choppy on your computer too. cause if it looks like that on your computer and your dvd player, then something is wrong.
