Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

I think the AUP was only meant to cover commecial ads ( if it walks talks or smells like a commercial ad then it is ).

I've asked baldrick for a clarification.

actually i wasn't advertising anything, but instead offering things that people may be looking for. damn and i was just reading a thread about moderators being lenient. oh well. now i've learned not to flood the forum with my spam anymore.

On another site, advertising was anything that might provide first party gains. Recommending a product or vender was OK as long as it didn't break the first party rule. So I could not sell, say...., bulk blank DVD-R's, but could say that WorstSteal has them cheap type of thing. I think the rules here are the same. And it included PM's! There was also an advertisers forum, where people who were advertisers could post things such as special deals. And they ran an auction area too, for members to sell their hobby (site) related stuffs. The auction part might be nice here too! Would cut down the possibility of being ripped off on Ebay! At least we would kind of know who we are dealing with.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I thought I was more then fair, I didn't even issue a warning. Just edited the post. Anyway we are awaiting the final word on the no advertising rule so that we can be 100% sure its inforced properly in the future.

  7. I thought it covered all ads. Like, I could not come on here and advertise a DVD player that I have got for sale. That was my interpretation of the rules anyway, and I have closed posts in the past that were personally advertising things for sale.

I don't think it's a bad thing, necessarily, as long as:

    - it has it's own forum
    - it's non commercial (i.e. it's from one member to another)
    - the site assumes no responsibility for anything in that forum (caveat emptor).

but of course, that's up to Baldrick. I've seen this on other boards, and it hasn't gone haywire.

I just shudder to thing would be like in the general forums once someone feels they were ripped off. I hate to see people at war with each other, of course I've seen some of that lately, but I still don't have to like it.

i have no problem with my post being censored or whatever, because i have better means of selling the stuff i want to get rid of (like Ebay). its just that i saw a thread about someone wanting to buy an LD player. So i thought i'd make it known that i have two extra players and would sell them. i'm willing to help someone out, but i'm not going to "give" them away. i wasn't meaning to ruffle any feathers or anything. and at least this forum IS moderated, unlike a bunch of other shitty forums i've been to. maybe there should be a trading section set up in the forum. or maybe that would lead to a lot of illegal things going on. oh well, just a thought.
