hi ive got a sony camcorder trv30 it takes mini dv tapes what capture card would be best i want to transver them to dvd .will it still keep the quility of my original tapes or will i get blocking mpeg artifacts e.t.c

If its a minDV cam, you need a firewire card to copy the data from the tape onto your PC in DV-Avi format. You can the encode this to mpeg-2 for DVD. There will be some quality loss but the amount of artifacts etc depends on the bitrate you encode at and the quality/amount of movement in the source material.
