  1. I use Premiere 6.5 to output MPEG 2 and wave files. Use Impression DVD Pro to make 2 Video angles. I make about 21 songs to fit on a DVD-R. Well, half of the songs, at the end, they have funny sound. On 2 songs, it won't reach the end. The number on the front of the DVD player keep going but only blank screen and no sound until I press FF and it goes to another song like it suppose to be. My questions are, anybody out there have this problem? Which software cause the problem? Thanks.

Well if you play the .wav files on your HDD, and they play fine all the way to end, then Premiere 6.5 is not the problem.
I'm guessing it's an Authoring problem.

  3. Actually, the MainConcept encoder (included with Premiere 6.5) does not produce DVD compliant PCM files (it's a long story -- you can visit the DVDLab forum if you want the full details). So if you encoded to elemental streams this may well be a Premiere problem.

You can solve this by either muxing your encoding (from within Premiere), or taking your PCM file and encoding it to AC3 or MPEG (BeSweet most likely). AC3 is more compliant, although it has been reported that *some* Pioneer players have problems with BeSweet AC3 encoded audio (I haven't found this to be the case, but I can't test any older Pioneer models).

mkelley, Interesting post you made. I went to DVD-Lab forum to check it out because I too use DVD-Lab. They said that the PCM audio made by Main Concept encoder wasn't excepted by DVD-Lab. I've made numerous dvds with DVD-Lab using the Main Concept PCM's with no problems. They always checked out OK and always played OK.

I do ocasionaly use Beesweet to convert to ac3, but only when I'm running out of room. I use Main Concept encoder v1.3 with Adobe Premiere 6.5.

  5. As always, it should be noted YMMV.

Using MC's audio *may* produce DVDs that are not playable by certain players. Some players are a lot more tolerant than others. Obviously if you are having success you don't have to worry (unless you think at some point in the future you may be using your DVDs with other players, particularly older ones). But the original poster wasn't having success, and this has proven to help (that is, changing the audio to AC3).

  6. I try to convert all songs to AC3 and it seems to be better but I am not totally happy because still some kind of freezing at the end of the songs. I try to use TMPEGenc to reencode all AVI files (both VBR and CBR). This time, the problem get worse. Then I try to use just 1 angle, the DVD plays without any problem. I think the problem came from Impression DVD Pro. Anybody experience the same problem? ... I download DVD-lab and it doesn't say anything about the 2nd angle. Does it support 2 angles?

  7. DVDLab will not support two angles -- it's strictly a single VTS DVD authoring app.

  8. Any software out there that support 2 angle that don't cost too much? any trialware? Please help, thanks.
