    What's the difference between 1.66:1 and 2.35:1?
According the info i've found they are both anamorphic widescreen.

An image with a 1.66:1 aspect ratio is wider than the height at a ratio of 1.66:1 meaning that for every inch of height you have aproximately 1 2/3 inches of width.

    Same thing with 2.35:1
For every inch of height you have approximately 2 1/3 inches of width.

HDTV uses 16x9 which is approximately 1.78:1 so anything at that ratio or above can be anamorphic. I've heard of anamorphic 1.66:1 although I don't see how that is possible unless it is heavily padded on the sides. I guess overscan on TV would hide that.
