  1. When using Scenarist I accidentally deleted a track from the track editor. Thinking I could recover it, I Saved As to a new file and then went back to open the older one.

What I found that when you Save As, it saves to a new file but also updates the old one! Hello!?! Am I the only one who thinks this is strange?

Next rant is, when adding a new item to the Scenario Editor, like a new VTS, WHY does Scenarist paste it all the way onto the opposite side of the area you are working on? Like other side of the universe...

There's probably no solutions to this but this is what I hate about Scenarist. My only real problem is, I imported several different m1v files into Scenarist. Some files can be scrubbed through rather quickly, entering chapter points, etc.

Other files, it takes 30 or more seconds to update, even if I move the cursor 0:00:29! I verified tracks, all are renders from Vegas Video using the same template, settings, etc. This is weird...

Scenarist updates your project file immediately after making a change. You never have to save your work, just close the program and when you return it will be just as you left it. To prevent problems I recommend you keep a backup dir and always copy your current save into it before changing anything. Just always keep a backup copy.

When you add a new VTS it places it to the right of all the items in the previous VTS. So even if you have it all minimized, it will still go way over to the right if your items extend that far. This is done to prevent overlapping of items, which would be much more confusing. You can drag the VTS'es anywhere you want and it will keep them in that location. I suppose its a little annoying, but not that big of a deal.

I believe Scenarist usually comes with a hardware decoder card, so if you are experiencing slow decoding than you should contact Sonic/Daiken's tech support and see if they can troubleshoot your hardware issues or possibly replace the card.

If for some reason you purchased Scenarist without the hardware decoding card, then you cannot blame Scenarist for the slow decoding. How long your decoding takes, and how good a quality it is entirely dependant on the software mpeg decoder that you have installed in your pc. You may want to try installing a new mpeg decoder. I use the intervideo decoder (comes with WinDVD) and have good results.

  3. Yes, I thought all that was normal activity, but I still think it could be a little less irritating.
As for the MPEG, I would understand if it was every file, but it only does this for some of them.
    Thanks,
