I am trying to convert some of the movies in VHS format in SVCD. While I am capturing the movies (using MS movie maker and ADVC-100), I noticed that the brightness of the video is different from what I see on the TV. In fact it was alternating between bright and dark.
Any idea what I can do in order to capture these tapes properly?
Thanks in advance.

Have you disabled Macrovison on the ADVC-100? I have seen this before and had to turn it off.

is the brightness the same throughout the whole movie or does it get lighter and darker throughout the movie? if its a constant brightness and doesnt change, then its probably not macrovision. try capturing with Scenalyzer Live instead of the MS junk.
Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler. -

If you don't have a TV connected to the outputs, its still the same procedure: just hold the "Select" button down for 30 seconds or so (to be on the safe side).
Good luck.
