There are a couple of dozen or so CDs available for free download at the following web site. You can download them in either MP3 or wave format. Each clip comes in several lengths ranging from 2 minutes to 10 seconds.

if you want to take a crack at making your own, go to www.acidplanet.com and get a copy of AcidXpress - it's a freeware version of Sonic Foundry's Acid loop software.
really easy to use - you can download loops from acidplanet.com or anywhere on the net, and drag & drop until you hear something you like.
If you have a Borders or Barnes & Noble handy, go look for a magazine from the UK called Computer Music - each issue has a cd packed with free and demo software, and usually a ton of decent loops for programs like Acid.
Also, most CompUSA or MicroCenter stores will have some cheap discs - they usually carry stuff from Magix, who sell discs of instrument loops for their own loop software. I've seen some of these discs as cheap as $3-4 each for a few hundred loops apiece.
Give it a try - you might surprise yourself!- housepig
