  1. Is it possible to remove a wma license from a wma file so you can write back to a normal CD?

  2. You might call Bill Gates and ask nicely.
Seriously,Windows License Management is one nut that is tough to crack and I don't think this is an appropriate topic as it probably violates forum rules.

now wait a second, just to play devil's advocate, if he has a legitimately obtained wma file, and he wants to make a backup copy for himself, isn't this a legit question?

we break css encryption all the time on this forum, and don't think twice about it, even though under the DMCA any tool we use to do it is defacto illegal.

why is the line different for a wma vs a css-encrypted disc?

now I will cop to not knowing what the purpose is for a wma license. If it can be written to a cd, and he's trying to bust it for another purpose, then the warez prohibition would stand. but if the wma license prevents the file from being burned to a disc, I would think this is a legit backup question, and within the poster's rights.

  5. I agree with housepig. It remains my understanding that we have the right to make a backup copy of material we purchase, regardless of media.

These are normally per-use licenses. If that is not the case this time, then yes, it would be alright to backup his file to another format.

    DO NOT REMOVE WMA LISCENSE

Instead take DIGITAL out from Sound Blaster and capture to another spdif capable tower in the format of your choice.
Alternate method..Take the line out with a stereo miniplug and jack it in to the next machine..Remember not to overload the input volume
    You won't lose anything!
