  1. I have some full avi. movies that I was trying to convert to vcd,
after I'm done converting the movies they are all over a gig large. Nero cant burn a movie that large on a cd.
Which programe do I use to split the movies in to parts example:
    cd 1 and cd 2.

If theres a guide on how to use the program would be helpful..
    thanks

  2. You can split the avi into two parts using virtualdub, then encode the 2 parts to mpeg seperatley. Or you can use an mpeg splitter to spli the large mpeg into 2. You can try TmpGenc Mpeg tools, merge and split option for this.

What program are you using to encode? TMPGEnc has a Source Range function which allows you to encode only part of a movie at a time thereby "splitting" by creating two mpeg files.

For cutting/splitting help check the Edit section on the left side of this page.

If you are using the Project Wizard, then in the 3rd window there is a box called Source Range. Click it and the source range window opens, use the slider to move (or enter frame numbers manually), set the start and the end frames that you want to encode from your movie. At the 5th window, give your output file a name (xxxx part 1) and select "create another project for batch encoding." Repeat the steps for part 2, marking the second half of the movie in the source range window (you can overlap the video by a few seconds for continuity), give the output file a different name (xxxx part 2) then select "start encoding immediately" or select "create another project", then select OK, then at the next window select cancel to go to the main window, here you can save your batch project for encoding at a later time.

I always do this, as I set up my machine during the day for encoding overnight. As well, there's too many problems created by splitting an mpeg file later.

  7. so are you splitting the avi. file before encoding to mpeg, vcd?

Or are you creating a audio file using Vdub from avi, then use TNG to slit the same time its encopding?

  8. you can 2 things:

    1) split the avi in vdub in different parts and then run al the parts through tmpgenc.
    2) split the movie while encoding with tmpgenc by selecting a source range.

    No,not splitting.

Yes, use a wav file as the audio source and use the source range function in TMPGEnc to create two seperate mpeg files.
