  1. ok I authored the dvd in dvdshrink and took out the widescreen version...after I burned the dvd and popped it in my dvdplayer everything worked great but I had no scroll to press play or go to chapters or anything. LOL Im stuck with a coaster of the menu and thats it! what did I do wrong? Im pretty sure I added every file except the widescreen file

  2. I would suggest before you waste any mode media you first test out your DVD files with either PowerDVD or WinDVD on your computer. Also I would invest in one DVD+RW or DVD-RW discs and write to it until you have a system that works every time.

Myself I could care less about a menu on a backup discs however I know some do want the menu. If I want the menu I always have the original disc to play.

Just a guess since I'm not an expert at re-authoring with DVDshrink I would run the final DVDshrink files through IFOedit to first "create new IFO's" then to "get VTS sectors" then check the resulting files with PowerDVD. That should find and fix any errors in the re-authoring. IFOedit is a free utility, look in the tools section of this site.

I should also say I bet the disc you burned still has the chapters in tact. Try switching chapters by using the "next" button on your remote or the number pad to directly enter the chapter number.

All the files from DVDshrink should be in a folder named "VIDEO_TS" (and you burn that folder, I assume you already know this). I use PowerDVD however WinDVD should work the same so you would start WinDVD then open the VIDEO_TS folder and select the first IFO file or the "VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

  6. If you haven't already done so, go over this guide for DVD Shrink. It sounds like you did not re-author your movie properly. DVD shrink works very well.

  7. Did you rip the entire DVD to your HD or only the main movie? If you ripped in file mode and didn't select/highlight all the files (ie. ripped only the man movie) that could be the problem.

  8. which version you using???

some of the earlier versions of dvdshrink had problems with reauthoring.

also, if you want to keep the menus with DVDshrink, you need to make a full backup, not reauthor.

btw, dvdshrink v2.3 is latest. make sure you have this one.
