  1. i'm going crazy. really don't know what to choose, please someone give me some advices.

whats the diferences between this 2 cards?

the 1934 has the built in firewire so i don't need a firewire port in my computer. other than that whats the diferences? 1934 don't have composite in? i noticed that on the extra Bay the composite(yellow) plug is there but on the card no..it means if i buy the card without the bay i wont have the composite(yellow) plug?

the advc50 has the front bay included(what is great) and it's only 200$ for ppl that has firewire in the computer allready (even for the ones that don't have firewire, the firewire card is about 30$, what makes a total of 230$).

the advc1934 don't has the bay, seems to don't have the composite card unless you buy the bay, and it's 250$ (340$ if you want the front bay).
so what are the real diferences between this 2 cards?

one other thing.. to connect the advc-50 to a firewire card the cable has to go from inside the computer to outside? cause all the firewire card i saw has the plugs outside the computer..
please someone explain me my question cause i'm a bit lost and don't know what to buy, i only know i wanna buy one of this 2 cards to rip my old vhs tapes to dvd.
if i said something wrong about the cards please let me know. thx

What made up my mind was (amongst other things) my motherboard.

The ADVC-1394 has known compatibility issues with many VIA mainboad chipsets. I'd put a link up to point you at the relevant page on Canopus's website, but that particular page is not currently available because "Canopus is currently updating the compatible hardware listing for Canopus products".

Also, with regard to connecting the ADVC-50, checkout my answer on your other thread.

I don't know if this'll help you make your decision.

  3. yeah i read your reply on my other thread. thx for replying.
theres no diferences in the card? other than the the way it connect to the computer? why the advc-50 is so much cheaper? cause theres no software included? i can't understand why this 2 cards exists cause they are so similar.. my main question is. why not buy advc50 + a firewire card instead of advc1394? will be cheaper and advc50 has the front bay.. i can't decide :/

  5. looking to that page what makes the 1394 more expensive is just cause it has the firewire built in and has software, right?
give me your opinion! do you think the 1394 it's worth just cause has the built in firewire in the converter and has software? isn't better buy a firewire card and then the advc50 that has the bay and put them working together?the software probably isn't that good and i'll end using some other software..
